About the Artist
Kathy Moniot describes her work as "abstract culturalism". Her inspiration is generated from her interest in popular culture and its direction in the world. Color, Shape, and Balance are the elements Moniot uses most to communicate her ideas.
Moniot is a self-taught artist with no formal art degree; although she did study a very disciplined abstract paint course at the Baum School of Art for a few months in the mid 90's.
Kathy Moniot is very interested in the intigration of the Arts and community. She held the position of Visual Arts Coordinator for Doylestown First Night Event in 2004. Afterwhich, Moniot originated the very successful First Friday Celebration which takes place every month in Doylestown. She also participated in the Miles of Mules project in Bucks County which she noted as a "highlight of [her] career".
For the last year and a half, Moniot has held the position of Chairperson for the Publicity Committee with the Bucks County Jazz Festival.
"I believe people are their happiest when they are around the arts and music, engaged with people in a community. The creative process touches a very primative core and a binding thread with humanity." - Moniot
